Moss Wood 2017 Chardonnay – Fergal Gleeson, The Great Wine Blog
Moss Wood planted their first Chardonnay vines in 1976, making them one of the variety’s earliest adopters in Australia. They reckon that the 2017 is one of their best. It would appear that the punters agree, as despite just being released they’ve already sold out at the winery. The 2017 Chardonnay is available however at bottle shops and restaurants. Why the fuss about this release? Firstly it’s in the classic Moss Wood style- rich and round with old vine fruit overriding the oak influence. But its the extra detail in the wine that makes the difference in this vintage. Ever changing flavours of peach, grapefruit, honey, carmel and nuts. You’ll reach for the glass again and again.
