Moss Wood 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon – Peter Forrestal, Money Magazine

This was a tricky, cool vintage for one of Margaret River’s finest vineyards, Moss Wood; yet the cabernet ripened at the right time and produced an excellent red.
It’s restrained at present with power and depth, blueberry and red cherry flavours, before a finish of great length and finesse. Cellaring will reward the patient.

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon – Winsor Dobbin, Winsor’s Choice

The Mugford family at Moss Wood rarely puts a foot wrong, regardless of the grape variety, or the vintage. This is a classic Margaret River cabernet from the Ribbon Vale vineyard; very stylish but with a hint of confident swagger. The dark cabernet fruit is aided and abetted by small amounts of cabernet franc, merlot and malbec in a classic Bordeaux blend. This is concentrated, but has an elegant tannin structure that makes it immediately accessible – while it is also a very solid cellaring bet. Enjoy with a roast lamb and all the trimmings.

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2021 Chardonnay – Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review

Heady vanillin and nutmeg aromas rise from the glass, and then notes of pineapple and lemon pith come through. The flavours build finishing with rich crème caramel tones. The oak is prominent and needs time to integrate with the fruit. This is a bolder premium style that will appeal to hedonists.

Moss Wood 2021 Amy’s – Stuart Knox, The Real Review

A bottle of Moss Wood 2021 Amy's Vintage laying on a table with a full glass of wine
A bright ruby red colour. Raspberry and crushed violet aromas lift from the glass. Fresh and juicy on the palate, there’s a joyous vibrancy to the wine that keeps you entertained on repeat visits. The tannins are almost playful in their fine-grained persistence, and a hint of freshening acidity as it lingers long adds to that sense of life.

Moss Wood 2020 Pinot Noir – Bob Campbell, The Real Review

A high energy pinot noir with assertive tannins balancing sweet fruit. I like the wine’s spiciness which adds extra complexity to dark cherry/berry characters. Ripe and moderately complex wine with cellaring potential.

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2020 Merlot – Stuart Knox, The Real Review

A dense ruby colour with rich plum compote, lavender, and chocolate aromas in the glass. Dark and weighty plum fruits fill the core whilst a curing meat and rosemary herbal tone adds to its character. Tannins are firm, controlling the weight of fruit whilst also accentuating a deep stony mineral layer. Remarkable length and drive to a bone-dry finish.

Moss Wood 2022 Semillon – Bob Campbell, The Real Review

Weighty, mouth-filling yet vibrant wine with marzipan, lemon curd, lime zest and white wildflowers. High-energy semillon with a backbone of assertive acidity that is a perfect fit with the wine’s restrained fruit sweetness.
