About Moss Wood
Moss Wood is a premium wine producer located in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia.
According to Langton's Fine Wines, Moss Wood is "one of the choicest and most beautiful vineyard sites in Australia", awarding it the rare accolade of 'Exceptional' alongside other iconic Australian wine producers such as such as Penfolds, Henschke and Cullen.
For the Wine Times of Hong Kong " ...when one thinks of the Margaret River region of Australia a few names spring to mind – none more so than the iconic winery Moss Wood who has been producing world class wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, among others, since the 1970’s."
James Halliday of The Australian Wine Companion says that Moss Wood is "...widely regarded as one of the best wineries in the (Margaret River) region, producing glorious Chardonnay, power-laden Semillon and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that lives for decades. ... The current releases are of exceptionally high quality." He has assigned the winery his coveted 5 red star winery rating.

Moss Wood 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2013 vintage is the 40th anniversary of Moss Wood's first vintage, and part of Margaret River’s dream run of successive, high quality vintages. The maritime climate of the Wilyabrup region is perfect for viticulture and provides consistency of vintage quality.

Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon dry grown and low yielding vines are one of the first vines of the Margaret River wine region and the oldest of the estate. The vines are hand-picked and the fruit is de-stemmed into small, open fermenters that are plunged by hand 3 times per day. The wine is aged in fine French oak barrels for 28 months, 15% of which were new.

According to prominent wine critic David Prestipino "This (2013) vintage is the 40th and possibly one of Moss Wood’s best, with vibrant violet aromas and an unerring symphony of complex ripe fruit, oak and acidity. Over the decades, these cabernets from Keith and Clare Mugford have rivalled the best in the land, speaking distinctively of the terroir they’re grown in. This vintage is no different."
