Moss Wood 2022 Semillon – Marc Malouf, Wine Worth Writing About
Straw in the glass with a pure nose of orchard florals, jasmine, poached pear, Granny Smith apple, white peach, custard apple, fingerlime, fresh fig, hazelnut praline and a gently smoky crushed gravel minerality. There’s a faint umami note in the background too.
In the mouth it’s precise, juicy yet dry and moves in a wave of citrus rubbed flavours that echo the nose. Lots of purity, drive and linearity. It bounces with fresh acidity and is textured by a gentle tug of tannins that holds the juice on the tongue, while an inertia of fruit flavour pushes through to a long and warming tail ending with interesting lemongrass/kaffir notes and an almost crystalline minerality. A finely detailed and very focused expression from Moss Wood.
