Deep, youthful red/purple colour with a shy, elusive nose. There are subtle violet and red fruit scents, and no greener notes, while the palate is gloriously deep, intense, powerfully structured and profound. The tannins and fruit are superbly integrated and the finish rolls on and on with great panache. There’s an inner core of fruit sweetness balanced by crisp acidity. This should age superbly and build more complexity, becoming an outstanding wine in time. I cannot recall a better Ribbon Vale red.
